10 Study Tips That Will Improve Your Results

Time is precious, you want to successfully complete your studies as quickly as possible. That is why we provide a number of strategies and tips below to study faster and better.

1. Determine your study goals

Research shows that setting goals is a good strategy to achieve certain ideals in your life faster. Make sure to ask yourself some important questions: Are my goals realistic? Do I have to work harder to achieve those goals? If you are satisfied with the goals you have set, then you should develop your study plan for the coming year with those goals in mind. That leads us to Tip # 2!

2. Make a study plan

Time is precious. Nobody is more aware of this than the poor student who does not actually start working until the night before the exam. By then it will of course be too late. The key to breaking this cycle is to think ahead and create an effective study plan. Not only will this help you make the most of your time, it will also take away that unpleasant feeling you get when you walk into an exam knowing you're not prepared at all.

3. Take regular breaks from study

It's important to realize that you can't concentrate all day long without giving yourself time to recover from the work you've done. So go for a walk, go to the gym, call your boyfriend or girlfriend, walk to the supermarket for dinner. Even though this feels like procrastination, don't fret, taking regular short breaks will increase your productivity and get you going.

4. Embrace new technologies

Studying no longer means writing with a pen on a piece of paper. The old handwritten method still occupies an important place, only much more is now possible. Take advantage of that! Whether it concerns online tools, explanatory videos on YouTube, tips on Instagram and Facebook, blogs, or mobile apps: learning has become faster, more digital and more user-friendly. Studying no longer has to be so monotonous and boring. In short; Make it a party!

Test yourself

Do you know that? You walk into the exam room and immediately forget a number of important things that you had to learn before the exam. The solution: mentally prepare for the pressure of remembering important dates, facts, names, formulas, and the like. Testing yourself with some custom test questions is a great way to do this.

6. Be positive

Your (positive) attitude has a major impact on the effectiveness of all those blocks. If you keep saying that you can't do it and that you don't feel like studying, getting that pass will indeed be a difficult story. Instead, you can better focus your attention on a positive result: that will only be enough this exam week! If you think positively, the reward centers in your brain show more activity: away from study stress!

7. Work with a study buddy

At this stage of the school year, you still need to know your classmates quite well. Now is a good time to select a few classmates you know you enjoy working with. Motivate each other, stimulate each other and last but not least: share that summary!

8. Turn the lessons into a story

Everyone loves to read or listen to a good story and with good reason - stories not only entertain us, they help us understand and remember important details. You can apply this to your studies by incorporating important details or facts into a story - the weirder and more ridiculous you can make it, the better (because you are more likely to remember a special and crazy story).

9. Set up a study routine

Your study routine is more than planning what to learn and when to do it. One of the most important points of interest is your study environment. Find a place to study that is quiet and low in distraction. Alternatively, you can try to vary by sitting in a different place in the school library every day and see how this works for you.

10. Highlight minor challenges

When dealing with long and boring topics, you can take on small challenges to keep your motivation sharp. The more motivated we are, the better our brains perform, according to scientific analyzes. So if you have to read a 300-page book for an exam, you can be proud of yourself if you read 30 on a Thursday evening. You could also have chosen to go into town with friends.
